Story of an Office Design
Our designer, Aimee, recently created this home office for a couple. Aimee explains her process and some special features that she included in order to make the office efficient and beautiful.
“The couple needed two desk spaces, one person worked from home and the other needed an area to keep the home in order. They didn’t want to see a lot of clutter, but wanted things to be easily accessible and visible. Our Ecoresin door panels offered the perfect solution. The clients just loved the texture and elegance they added to the design. The panels allowed them to see what was in the cabinets, but hid the mess and added beauty. We chose Ting Ting which paired perfectly with the Mahogany finish. The large pulls really completed the look and we used the same for both the drawers and cabinets.
Some other great features in this desk are a slide-out shelf in one of the cabinets that holds the printer and we made a taller lower cabinet at the end of the desk for more storage.
One design challenge was determining how to go around the ceiling beam. We had thought about taking the cabinets all the way to the ceiling and then making a shorter area to go around the beam, but instead we opted to keep the cabinets all at the same height and leave extra space around the beam.
The project came together beautifully and the couple was very happy with the results.”

I recently used IKEA’s design tool, but it was geared towards home projects. Does anyone know where I can find a similar tool for office design?
